Accessing the Festival
Our festival programme is accompanied by a series of activities and offers which put into context the shows on offer, allowing you to explore more thoroughly the contents and relevant topics. As an international festival for the performing arts, we also offer a variety of productions for which the German language is not a prerequisite. All meaning that you can explore the festival from different angles …
Listening
Every evening at six o’clock, people who have intensely studied a production of the festival programme share their personal impressions with introductions – giving you the opportunity to tune in to the performance.
For our lecture series Talking on Water, we invite leading thinkers to share their points of view. This year’s series features gender researcher Franziska Schutzbach, anthropologist Rita Segato and the performance collective LASTESIS.
Radio Landiwiese will broadcast from the festival site. Young adults with a refugee or migration background and female journalists who have fled to Switzerland will go on air.

Reading
The MA Cultural Publishing of ZHdK enters again into critical dialogue with the Theater Spektakel in a special edition of the online magazine «Zollfreilager».
In the bookstore sec52 & Howeg next to the box office on the Landiwiese, the two Zurich booksellers and publishers Rico Bilger and Thomas Howeg offer a carefully selected assortment – customised to the festival and its programme. Open daily from 17:00 hrs.
On Screen
Members of Theater HORA react with drawings, interviews and more to productions of the festival programme. They share their perspectives in «HORAkel» – short videos which will be posted on here.
On the occasion of the project «Choreographers at Work», the two Zurich cultural artists Mona De Weerdt and Michelle Ettlin have documented the development of «Waterworks » by Meg Stuart & The Field on film. This documentary movie is screened on the performance days of «Waterworks» from 18:30 hrs at the Stammtisch.
In Exchange
The Stammtisch on the Landiwiese is a good opportunity to meet other people, see new perspectives and view local initiatives. Each evening, one or more hosts will introduce various topics.
From workshops for children and young adults, a reading group on texts by Édouard Glissant to a working group with colectivo LASTESIS from Chile or a guided tour with Annette Bhagwati, director of Museum Rietberg – we offer several opportunities to elaborate on the festival contents in a group environment.
Visitors between the age of 15 and 25 are invited to join the audience club Die Voyeure Zürich and to discuss one of the following performances – with other members of the club as well as with artists and/or experts.
In your Language
Our festival programme offers productions in various languages – for example in Spanish, Thai or Bamana.
All productions (except for the Short Pieces) are surtitled in German, many of them also in English.
Additionally, there are various nonlanguage based performances – such as «Encantado» by Lia Rodrigues Companhia de Danças, «Wild Things» by Corsin Gaudenz, or «workpiece» by Anna-Marija Adomaityte & Gautier Teuscher.
