Los Años
ArgentinaWhat would we do differently if we could look back on today’s world from a post-pandemic future? What will we think about the 2020s thirty years from now? The Argentinian author and director Mariano Pensotti presents «Los Años», a piece taking place simultaneously in the future and in our present – the future past.
In an ingeniously designed stage set – almost like a crosscutting film montage – we watch the story of a man at two different moments in his life: In the first, we see 30-year-old Manuel living in today’s time. Appropriate for his age, his life is characterised by utopias and grandiose ideas. In the second scenario, we look ahead to 2052 when a 60-year old Manuel returns to Buenos Aires having lived abroad for a long time. He hopes to build on his former success as a filmmaker and wants to rekindle his relationships with his family and friends. But, as life goes on, things turn out differently …
With «Los Años», the passionate storyteller Pensotti and his ensemble have created a sophisticated universe full of references to our present. In a tragic-comic to and fro between times and realities, Pensotti tells of shattered dreams, unfulfilled ideals and of everything that really lasts. (af)
Simple words
This theatre piece is about a man named Manuel. We see how he lived in our time when he was 30 years old. And we also see how he lives in the future, when he is 60. The piece tells us about the past and the future. And how sometimes life turns out differently from what we think.
